There may be a reason why you let the "magic smoke" out of the Netopia due to the fact that the power adapter for the Westell and the Netopia may be close enough to the same size to plug into each other. If this is the case then you may have accidentally plugged the Westell power adapter into the Netopia. The Westell power adapter has an Alternating Current output and the Netopia modem has a Direct Current input. If you plugged the Westell power adapter in to Netopia then that is the reason why the "magic smoke" came out.
You need to throw away your Netopia modem and put it's power adapter away somewhere so that there is no chance that you will accidentally plug it int the Westell at some latter date. If you plug the Netopia power adapter into your Westell then you will probably let the "magic smoke" out of it too. |
