[Help] Photo print pricing query

I am planning to have my "Color burst" »/showpic/dimag···6252&1=1 , professionally printed and mounted on a display board for entry in the 2008 San Diego County Fair Exhibition of Photography, which is a juried exhibition. There is an option that if one's photo is selected for inclusion in the exhibit it can be offered for sale.

I haven't decided if I will let this print be offered for sale, but if in case I do, I'm curious what are typical prices that photo prints are sold for.

Having no experience with selling photo prints, I do not know if the size of it would make a difference in the price I would request. I still need to decide how large the print will be, but the 2008 rules for this exhibition state it can be up to full-bleed 16-inches by 20-inches.

(Edit: Grammar correction)

My major concern is what would be good pricing to request for my print if I do offer it for sale, but I'll take a look through that thread.

Thanks

You're asking a question that really doesn't have a definitive answer. Prints that size can range in price from a few dollars to many hundreds of dollars. I guess it all boils down to a combination of what you think it's worth and what the market will bear. That said, I've sold 16x24 prints between $42-$60, depending on the paper. That's without matting.

If you're like Brooks Jensen, he sells all of his images (8x10" printed on 11x14" paper) for $20 plus shipping. That includes the image being "printed on heavy weight Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 310gms/m2 archival paper" and "shipped in an archival crystal clear sleeve with archival backing board". He says, "Twenty dollars was good enough for Edward Weston; it is more than enough for the rest of us – even including inflation."

OK, that gives me some ideas to work from. The quote about Weston is especially interesting.

Thank you

Pardon me for not understanding your post. I had just woken up. I mistook you for wanting to know some good prices for printing.

Perhaps some of the resident professionals around here will float by and give some advise. Personally, I would go for at least 10% over cost.
