Re: Found this in the Pub

I am usually a pretty tearless fellow, but that one made my eyes a bit damp.

the many friends I knew and will never see again from another war that no one wanted and changed our perceptions about the world in 1960s and 70s.
Indeed, I think those of us who lived through, and to some extent were defined by, the Vietnam war view this war somewhat differently from younger ones, and probably differently from those older who lived through WWII, called by some "the last 'good' war" (if you really believe there can be such a thing).

But what doesn't change is the human tragedy of war, which photography has the power to bring home like nothing else. These pics should make those supporting the war even prouder of their soldiers, and those opposing it firmer in their belief that we must find an alternative.

Thanks for the remembrance for it brings to mind the many friends I knew and will never see again from another war that no one wanted and changed our perceptions about the world in 1960s and 70s.

Just give the men and women serving now along with their families a prayer and the warmth of your hearts.
