 | Is Time Warner Cable any good? Only time we ever actually used them was in a hotel when we went on vacation. It was basic cable and the picture was about the same as Comcast as far as basic cable is concerned. But I'm wondering if the other services(Digital cable, HD, On-demand, DVR, HSI, phone, etc...) are any good. |

1 edit | Well, I don't know too many people who LOVE their cable company (or any other utility for that matter). TWC had a good number of irate people in Los Angeles when they took over Adelphia and Comcast in this region. It's hard to say how much of that was due to transition pains. All that said...
Comparing them to my previous provider, Comcast:
Digital Cable, HD - They added a few more HD channels and renumbered everything in a slightly more logical manner. Service quality about the same. Price got cheaper.
On Demand - Comcast wins here. They had lots and lots of free movies and stuff everywhere. Time Warner's selection is comparitively small.
DVR - Thus far we still have the same DVR we did with Comcast, and the software hasn't changed except for some ads that appeared.
HSI - I've had great luck with Road Runner. They have great unlmimited newgroup service. When I had Comcast HSI it seemed a lot more prone to small outages. TW increased the speeds from 8m/768k to 10m/1m.
Phone - Comcast never bothered to deploy digital phone here. When Time Warner took over, they added it as an option. Zero complaints about the phone service, it works marvelously.
Time Warner seems much less aggressive than Comcast when it comes to rolling out new stuff, but they seem to stay reasonably competitive. Over all I'm happy with them. -- Laser eye surgery rocks! I love frickin' laser beams. |
