Re: FIOS ? Who can get that ? Or the line gets cut and now you are out phone along with everything else and with 2 young kids - ain't going to do it. Phone lines have not gone dead in years upon years with POTs - even with hours long power failures. Not going to let an internet outage of any kind affect my dialing 911 from a regular phone where the chance of 911 not working is incredibly small in my area. |

Phones have never gone dead here either.. I don't think you really understand how FIOS works though... It isn't a VOIP phone service like you get from the cable company... It is basically regular phone service + cable tv + internet over fiber... You can still purchase VOIP over FIOS, but that is a totally different service as it rides over the internet... Your internet service can go down and FIOS phone might not go down. There is also a battery backup on the phone which is supposed to last for 8 hours of talk time, which isn't bad at all.
