| Just got a Qwest Motorola/Netopia 3347
VERY NICE! The techs just started carrying them on their trucks last week but have not been trained on them yet.
The GUI is very slick as is the hardware itself. Nice Qwest blue top with Motorola emblem in the middle. The interface has many advanced options. WIFI multimedia setup with Diffserv, QoS, and a huge gaming config. And its very easy to navigate. |

This is a great move by Qwest. I've been using the 3347 with Qwest for years now, and it is, like, all up-time. I hope residential customers are eligible to get it at a reasonable cost. |

  Netopia 3347
@qwest.net | reply to jonas0tt0 Only compatible with the 3347-0210/NA series as far as I can tell & many advanced configurations do not exist on the Qwest firmware version, so I would suggest be happy with what you have. |

| reply to jonas0tt0 If anyone with knowledge of this router is able to address my subnet routing issue with it, I'd appreciate the help. Disabling NAT sends it into an authentication loop.

| reply to jonas0tt0 woodward, Have you read the admin handbook at the help link above?
I read your linked post. Is your problem simply that if you turn off NAT (regardless of any other settings - say, for example, that everything else is at the default setting) the modem goes into an authentication loop?
Perhaps you can list, step-by-step, the changes you made to enable subnetting? And also what functionality you are seeking to gain by enabling subnetting? Have you looked at the IP passthrough option? Have you looked at all the settings available if you telnet to the modem's configuration pages? |

| reply to Netopia 3347 I have been having issues with getting Remote Management enabled on two of the Qwest Motorola 3347s. Whether enabling from the GUI or the CLI it still doesn't work via HTTP nor telnet. Is this one of the "advanced configs" that have been disabled? If so, I'm afraid to ask about whether the VPN (IP Sec) settings work... Anybody have any inside knowledge to share about this? Much obliged! |

| reply to jonas0tt0 Ok - here's a silly question:
I don't see where the ducky antenna is removable. The spec sheets refer to the reverse sma connector as optional.
Anyone with the Qwest hacked/branded version able to confirm/deny whether it's removable?
It would just be nice to know.
It has enough output, but a sector antenna would suit me better if I had my druthers. |

| I just got my Netopia 3347-02-100Q today to take advantage of the FTTN network. I don't understand why I can't use the Actiontec M1000 as both are ADSL2+, but sure enough it cut out when they cranked up my line. I actually had Qwest turn it down for a day so I could have some Internet access while waiting for UPS to show up with the modem. Qwest flipped it sometime before I was awake at 7am. UPS got me my modem at 3:30PM. So yeah, that would've been all day without.
Since I'm still running the M1000, I took some time this afternoon to dig into the 3347. Inside its a hybrid of a TI ARM7 DSL system and a Broadcom managed switch (like used in WRT54GL) with the management interface running on the Broadcom half. There is JTAG and TTL level serial inside. I imagine one could do a OpenWRT port as that supports both processors that are in use. It has 16MB RAM, flash size unknown as I haven't ripped the sticker off the chip yet to read it.
The wireless is a dual antennae system, with one external and one internal. The external is connected with a plug, not soldered, so you can easily wire in a different one if you just open the case. Sorry, but I don't know if this the reverse sma jack you refer to or something else. The internal antenna has a smaller jack, exactly as is used on all the miniPCI/miniPCIe cards I've seen in laptops. This jack is unused and connecting to it would, I believe, run in parallel to the internal antenna as I do not see a mux to cut out the internal upon connecting to the jack. So, you could actually install two external antennas, though each would use a different type of plug. To open the unit, remove the three visible Philips screws on the bottom, then release the two clips through the front feet and it will pop right open. |
