| IMG Update in Portland, OR
I came home and checked the Message Center (because of other posts re: HBO/Cinemax free preview) and also saw the following:
Important FiOS TV Service Notice
03/11/2008 5:00p
FiOS TV subscribers in the Portland, OR viewing area. As of 3/12 there will be updates made to your Interactive Media Guide (IMG). These updates are designed to improve your service and create the bst viewing experience possible. During this update you may notice that your set top box resets automatically. This occurrence is normal with any IMG update. These changes will not affect the way you access or use your IMG. Under Menu / System Info it says: Release: 1.0.4 build Number: 05.72 Platform ID: QIP-6200 P2 [...] EPG Region: 3424
I'm not sure what improvements I personally will experience. Our SD channels have always been fine (no analog here, I don't know if that matters or not), I don't have Verizon's DVR, and I'm not seeing thing obviously different in the Menu itself... but I thought I'd pass this one
If you have specific questions, I'll answer as I'm able! |

4 edits | reply to darcilicious Thanks for passing that along, it's great to hear they are rolling out the patch. It's obvious they didn't fix the red light, so it comes on when there is a message! Most of what had to be corrected was with the DVR so you can't check those things. Check these: Are Community Widgets now active? (Press the right arrow when in the weather) If you had the green line issue, is it gone? Can you hide channels from the guide? Are there any options to play Games? Have they fixed the clock on the front display, is it still slow? Does the Reminder feature automatically change the channel?
Look through all the Settings and see if there is something that wasn't there before.
Thanks Darci |

1 edit | reply to matcarl Check these: Are Community Widgets now active? (Press the right arrow when in the weather) Nope, still nothing but weather and traffic.
If you had the green line issue, is it gone? I am using HDMI but I may have shifted the picture to hide that. Interestingly enough, I do get a green horizontal line at the bottom of the screen when in "panoramic" mode (I have an Olevia; there are about 6 size/aspect ratio modes which you have to cycle through to get from one (say 1:1) to another (say zoom1 for SD in 16:9 ) I never use "panoramic" mode so it's not an issue for me.
Can you hide channels from the guide? Not that I could find. I did test and you still can't have more than ten bookmarks in the VOD section.
Are there any options to play Games? Not that I saw.
Have they fixed the clock on the front display, is it still slow? Compared to the guide clock or ??
Does the Reminder feature automatically change the channel? This one I'll have to check. I didn't see an option to turn off the display reminder anywhere which I would like.
Look through all the Settings and see if there is something that wasn't there before. Again, nothing that popped out at me but I'll double-check. |

| said by bcushman :Also, have they fixed the dual buffering so that you can put one channel on pause while you go to another channel? I repeat: I don't have a Verizon DVR so I cannot check any DVR functions Given that there don't seem to be any substantial (or trivial) updates to the Menu/Settings/etc part of the IMG, I sure hope for all you DVR users out there that this update is focused on DVR fixes |

| reply to matcarl Followup:
Have they fixed the clock on the front display, is it still slow? The front-display clock on our 6200 is about 15 seconds behind the guide and my laptop.
Does the Reminder feature automatically change the channel? Nope. It pops up twice but doesn't actually change the channel.
Also, last night while I was spending a lot of time in the main Menu, the entire screen except the small live picture display went black. Using the remote buttons didn't bring the IMG back until I exited and went back in. I haven't been able to duplicate it but it was very odd and a little scary
I looked in the settings area again and nothing popped out at me but I don't know it very well as I spend very little time there. |

| reply to darcilicious I'm in the Portland area also and have the update and no you still cannot pause one channel, switch to the other and have the first channel still paused (I assume that is the problem you were referring to) Although for me, the dual buffer must have stopped working when they loaded the img - I had to do the trick of recording on both tuners to reactivate it. I checked again after reactivating and still wouldnt pause (althought it did keep the buffer). Maybe I'm one of the few, but I havent had many issues with my DVR (Knock on Wood) but this update hasnt seemed to change much at all as far as I can tell visibly.
Also never had the green line issue to begin with |

JPL Premium join:2007-04-04 West Chester, PA | reply to darcilicious Got one more for you guys to check. If you bring up your favorites list, can you circle around the guide? Meaning, if you go all the way to the end, will it circle back around to the top of the guide? |

| reply to darcilicious said by darcilicious :Release: 1.0.4 build Number: 05.72 Platform ID: QIP-6200 P2 This is the same release number that we all have had for months. The build numbers are different between the QIP 6200 STB and the QIP 6416 DVRs. Can someone with a QIP-6200 in another market post the build # they see? I think we should make sure that this is updated software and not a incorrect message sent out by Verizon. If updated software version were sent out, I would expect it to have a new release number, presumably 1.0.5 if it is just bug fixes. |

darcilicious Cyber Librarian Premium join:2001-01-02 Forest Grove, OR 2 edits | I thought the previous build number even on my 6200 was 05.68?
Ah, well, maybe that would explain the complete lack of any changes (unless they'll all be DVR-only related). |
