new 2mbps up package (200gig transfer)

Was just going through the Shaw website and I noticed the new Shaw server connect package, which is $299.95 a month, gives to 5mbps down, 2mbps up, and a 200gig per month transfer limit.

Not something I would need but some people do need this...

I can get 100Mbps with half the price and with 10-20 times the transfer limit with NO P2P throttling.

only fools would pay this.

I'd say... never trust a residential ISP to provide you with anything decent for business purposes. 2mbit is useless, for SOHO purposes. It'd barely be adequate with a 10mbit downstream residential use.

You can easily get more than that with 2 bonded modems for almost one third the price and double the downstream.
Why would anyone go for this?

Manatrite, talking of Novus?

What a joke!

I have Novus SOHO (50Mbps asymmetrical) for $294.72, this includes 10 Static IP addresses and 500GB of transfer.

Good ol' Shaw.

Edit: My Novus never goes down, I've been connected to certain services for 3 months (since my service went up), tech support is responsive and someone will be at my house the same day if something goes wrong. Can't say the same for Shaw (anyone remember my port blocking problem w/ statics?)

Wow. That is brutal.

This is really disappointing to me. I'm a big fan of Shaw but I haven't been impressed in the way they're trying to win over customers from a technical perspective.

This makes me think that 10/10 connectivity is still a very long way off. Even if Shaw provides it at some point in the future, I could easy see them charge a great deal of money for this service (based on what I'm seeing here).

Do you think the Shaw backbone even have 2Mbps available? I have extreme-I in addition to my Metrobridge connection and on my Extreme-I, I could barely get 750-800Kbps upstream. Doesn't this suggest that theres not enough upload on their system?
