The dealer cost for the model the OP purchased is $44.25, according to your sheet. That leaves them $103.43 for tax, install labor, and profit. They must have billed a full hour of labor.

Battery performance & price
Well it was my choice to replace with the AC Delco name. ( see above post I just made ) The same battery was $95-$100 just about a month ago but prices have gone up as mentioned.

Sure there are cheaper batteries but one needs to keep in mind they go by size..The Firebird takes a 75 size series and some of them are not that cheap to begin with...( not taking in the recent price increases )

And as you can by this chart, that they are also highly rated.

Keep in mind the prices on this chart are from last year.

That's fine. It is your money, your car, and your choice. But for that money, I would have stepped up to a gel type battery.

Add shipping and you are up to $70 per unit the Arabs need to get their cut of the action too.

Count me in as lost... What do Arabs have to do with batteries?

Batteries are made of lead think heavy. They are moved on large trucks and freight trains that burn fuel that is getting more expensive by the day in fact with items like batteries the transportation costs can match or exceed the manafacturing costs. Just ask the battery importers who where bringing them in from China by the container load a few years ago and who are now moving to domestic suppliers as even with higher manafacturing costs here the overall price is lower than dealing with China as transport costs are so uch lower.

As for the Arabs think oil.

And that is how the Arabs have a slice of the battery distribution process by proxy.
