Re: MD state government - one of the worst in the country. It's not the area which is the problem, but rather the footprint of MD that makes running the fiber so difficult. Not many, if any, counties are spread out like MD. Add to that the Chesapeake Bay splitting it in half makes it difficult to get fiber to the eastern half. Part of this plan put on hold was to run fiber underneath the Bay Bridge. I'm sure the Baltimore/DC corridor is easy to outfit with fiber, and most of it already is with FIOS and Comcast's network. But stretching to the Atlantic and well into the Appalachians is where the task becomes daunting. |
