Why the price hike?

Has anyone noticed the new update to the CT website? A person can no longer get pricing on DSL services without calling customer service.

I have the 1.5/256 which I pay $29.95 a month for. I called yesterday to drop some features to try and lower this bill a little but that don't seem possible. My bill is never below $90 and I don't use long distance. I was going to drop the calling features bundle, keep caller ID and down grade to a basic phone. I was shocked when the lady told me that my bill would drop only about 5 to 7 dollars a month. She also informed me that if I break the bundle then my 1.5/256 would go back to the regular price of $39.95/mo. I then asked about a dry line and DSL only, $65 bucks! They train their people well it seems.

If you are lucky enough to find the section on the website that list all the speeds that's available you will notice that they now offer only 4 email address and it no longer list as Unlimited Access.

I took a screenshot of the service that's available in my area back in Feb that list the 1.5 as $29.95. The lady said it was always 39 bucks. You would think they would try and compete with AT&T which offer 1.5 for 24 bucks, with a total phone bill of 52 bucks. Also service has been horrible for the past few months in the evening.

I still see unlimited?

The pricing question would probably have to do with local markets. I am getting the 10/768 for 29.99 a month, that is $20 less a month than I used to pay for the 3Mbps plan. I would assume areas with less and or higher price competition will probably have higher prices.

You are probably right on the price issue. I'm guessing maybe 10-20 people have dsl in my area. I also see that it list "unlimited", I wonder if they just changed that or did I misread?

Anyway CT service is a whole lot better then the Hughes satellite service I had. If they would only fix the nightly slowdown I'd be happy, even at $39.95

Thanks for the reply

That's news to me about dropping to 4 email accts instead of 5. Wonder what happened to all those "fifth" accounts that some people probably had?

Honestly there is no reason to use an ISP's email any more with gmail and things like that. I only have the one required CTL account, and any mail to that just goes to my gmail account.

Yep, I don't even use my CenturyTel mail (probably why I didn't know about the downgrade to 4 mail boxes, even though I work for this outfit). Strictly Gmail here.
