[connectivity] Outages in California?

Starting yesterday night, my internet's been on and off. It'll be on for like half an hours, and off for ten, and then back on. A vicious cycle, but it's annoying, just wondering if anyone's been experiencing issues.

Yeah, same problems, I'm in central California though. I have fine connection, then it dies, and comes back, and dies again. Hopefully it goes away soon.

I am having this same issue. I'm from Ridgecrest CA, and the rep I'm talking to is denying anything is out.

Either they are being told to lie about this, or the issue is somehow not in their system? I think it's probably the latter.

I mean the former

Yea I've been having connectivity issues since around 9:00PM Wednesday, 3/19/08. My internet is fine one moment, then I lose all connection and the Ready light on my modem blinks, when it has a steady light I know I have connection again. This is really a pain, since it usually happens when I'm playing my game. GG Verizon...Might switch to Roadrunner

Now all Verizon needs to do is relay that information to their Reps so they reps can tell the customers that call in about it. Instead they run you through the loops even if you tell them that X people have the same problem and it began at the same time.

Verizon has some serious internal communication problems, and the most important people are seeing the brunt of it, the customers. They need to shape up or people are going to start looking for alternative.

yeah i've been out since about 1am thursday morning. i called tech support twice. first time... they said i had to call as it happened. second time i called, they had me jump through hoops with rebooting modem, and disconnecting router. asl long as i know that its not only affecting me i feel okay. i thought it was just my modem

I've had modem lose sync a few times tonight. But more important is once it's in sync I'm unable to connect due to cache dns 68.238.64.12, 68.238.64.14, 68.238.96.12, and 68.238.96.14. I tried another dns server I know and my connection working. If you have sync and can't connect suggest you try another set of server temporarily.

I've been having the same intermittent outages described above, here in Claremont, CA. Wish I'd have thought to look here first - I'd have saved myself the same frustrating and basic phone calls described above. Periodic disconnects with blinking ready light on an aging Westell modem, reconnects itself after a few minutes typically. Fine when it's connected. Started sometime the night of the 19th and has continued on/off all day. Disconnected again while I typed this.

Mine drops irregularly a couple times an hour. I haven't tried to 'penetrate' verizon since I saw on this forum that we have multiple folks with the same problem. My moust recent outage ended about 3 minutes ago and began a few minutes before that - not watching the clock.
