| [Equipment] 900MHz with Mikrotik
Alright guys.. a few months ago I bought a RB532a and RB133c and couple SR9's.. I finally have enough money to buy some antennas and try this out. My question is what supplier do you guys order your parts for on assembling your CPE's. I am trying to get an average DIY CPE price to see if I should just go with OSBridge or LigoWave units instead. I have looked around and added up a few prices but I don't know all of the distribs or the cheapest, etc yet because I don't order much. Especially not from carriers of RB's and such.
Thanks -Marty |

| reply to mtroup Streakwave generally has the best prices on RB stuff. I use them to beat down Hutton, from time to time.
In my opinion, I would not waste my time with the SR9 cards. If this is a new deployment, I would start out with XR9's. They are cheaper and more robust. They seem to handle in band and out of band noise much better than the SR9.
Disclaimer: This is just my experience based on my deployments and in no way is backed up by scientific data nor is this a paid endorsement by the makers of SR/XR9 products or the Routerboard line of products. Your mileage may vary. |

| reply to mtroup For an FYI on the 900 MHz, if there is any frequency hopping gear in the area count on it NOT being stable whatsoever. We do work for a municipality which has some 900MHz SR and XR gear, it doesn't matter both get killed.
All versions prior to Version 3 RouterOS SR9 show up as 2.4 GHz in the interface so you need to count channels. Noise cancelling is much better on the XR9 they fixed the interface for the SR9 when you get to Version 3, but the XR9 still shows up as a 2.4 GHz radio. IT DOES WORK THOUGH! |
