Firstly, I hope and pray this will be a voluntary. Secondly, is this the best way to keep track of who is watching the TV? How about a simple login system? Login and select who is watching the TV if they are so damn interested in what people are watching.
Why does Comcast even care who is watching and what they are watching? They aren't content providers. They just deliver content. They should care less. The only reason is that content providers would probably pay Comcast a lot for that kind of information.
But seriously, does Comcast have a PR department? Do they care about their customers at all? I left Comcast and would suggest it to all other Comcast customers. They DO NOT care about their customers.

join:2000-05-11 | Ah, but they are content providers. Comcast Sports Net, E!, The Golf Channel, G4 and several others are owned by Comcast and they sell local ad insertions on all of their systems. Such technology would be a gold mine for them.
Which is why I am certain Kunkel was not joking around.
