1 edit | Comcast Network Abuse Email ? Are they allowed to do this? I apologize for the n00b question. I just received this letter from Comcast below and am seriously worried. My question is are they monitoring my IP ports scanning what applications I use? Is this limited just to BitTorrent? Or is this just a scare tactic to stop me from downloading too much each month? Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated, please don't flame the n00b.

2 edits | None of the above. An owner of a copyrighted work (that you are sharing with BitTorrent, apparently) has notified Comcast of your actions and requested information about you. Comcast won't divulge your personal information without a subpoena (unlike certain telcos that go unnamed), but they will pass on the notice to you. You might want to knock it off.
Comcast-instigated TOS notices are generally about quantity of bandwidth consumption, not the content itself. -- Interested in open source engine management for your Subaru? |

however depending on that case in the midwest we could find out the "monitoring" services the content owners use could have questionable legality. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports |

 | reply to mastershake26 I recommend you use programs that don't force you to share what you're downloading like Limewire and newsgroups. -- I wish qwest would die! I want FIOS! |
