| Warm Springs - VA or WV? - Vacation Spots?
Hey everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me out. When I was little, about 5, (that means 1980), my parents used to take me on as many little trips that they could afford. I have great memories of hopping in their 1979 Oldsmobile, listening to The Beatles from NY to VA, eventually winding up in a place called Warm Springs.
I have fond memories of this place, but they have faded to the point where 30 years later, I have trouble remembering specific details. I do, however, know that it was a place I'd always like to visit again. Upon asking my parents, they seem to disagree whether or not it was a place called Warm Springs Virginia or Warm Springs West Virginia.
Mom thinks it's Virginia, Dad thinks it's WV. I don't care who is right or wrong, but I would like to know which one it is. One of the great things I remember is taking some sort of an old-fashioned steam train, seeing the mountains and the valleys.
I'd like to revisit this place. For me, I'd like to relive a little of my childhood. I doubt I'd be able to find the same places I remember. That being said, I would like my girlfriend and future wife (yes, the same person ) to experience this area, and for us to bring our own children there when they are little. Note that we have no children yet.
At any rate, what I am asking here is -- has Warm Springs changed at all? Is it still that little nook and far off place I remember it being, or has it been commercialized? I remember it being a unique place, off the well-traveled path, a place to go and relax and see nature. I'd like to think it is still that place. And if so, can anyone recommend a good place to stay for 3-4 days. Money, while a concern, isn't the most important factor here. I'd gladly be willing to pay a premium for a few days if it meant something special.
Thanks to anyone that reply.

| Well, there is a Warm Springs, Va, which is just over the line from White Sulphur Springs, WVa and both are in the general vicinity of the Cass Railroad in WVa. You can find them all on Google.

But it could have been Warm Springs VA »www.discoverbath.com/
Yes those areas have changed, time does not stand still here. They have not changed as much as the urban northern region though. -- Team Discovery | | Jeffrey Bye George, 1937-2008 Premium join:2002-12-24 Long Island clubs:

I'll check out those links, thanks! -- And so castles made of sand, slip into the sea, eventually.

| reply to Jeffrey We vacationed in Warm Springs, VA last August. It's just up the road a bit (Sam Snead Highway) from the Homestead resort in Hot Springs, VA. The center of the universe in that area is still The Homestead, and the area is still nice and laid back. -- Verizon FIOS | | Rxdoxx Premium,Mod join:2000-11-03 Middle River, MD clubs: | reply to Jeffrey I assume you found this? »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warm_Springs,_Virginia -- Was a Cruise Fanatic, one cruise on Princess cured me. | I hadn't looked there yet because when I asked last night, I hadn't even narrowed it down to whether it was Warm Springs WV or VA, or now it might be Hot Springs. Too many similar names with "Springs" in it--- I gotta call the parents first to get a definite answer where the heck they took me to. -- And so castles made of sand, slip into the sea, eventually.

I'm going to try and Google some of these places to see if I can see anything that I can possibly remember. -- And so castles made of sand, slip into the sea, eventually.

| reply to Jeffrey My parents live in Hot Springs, that area gets a lot of tourists. You might be able to find similar things closer to you in New York, but if you're curious then schedule a weekend and go driving around looking for it. The scenery will be very nice, just make sure you bring a lot of music | |
