Re: Caught In the Cash Suckage Vortex of Home Improvement

How far out of level were they? Is it possible to get another carpenter out for a second opion, possibly someone with some creativity to make it work?

You had countertops on there already. Could you tell that they were out of level?

Just some thoughts!

Good luck,

Steve

The bubble was entirely out of the lines. The composite board they had was 1/2" and tired looking,

I knew they were out of level, I didn't know how bad supports were. I thought it was a question of just having to check the posts and take a little off one.

I want to put tile up around and I want it to be right. When you come into the front door, you see right into the kitchen. I may be in situation where I have to sell in the next year. I need a selling point. I also want to be in a situation where if I sell in 10-15yrs, you can still look in the kitchen when you walk in the door and notice the kitchen.

Great points! The good thing is, with a kitchen renovation, you are likely to get a lot of it back when you sell.

Sorry I can't provide a good resource for cabinets from first hand experience.

A couple of our neighbors did use Lowes for Kraftmaid cabinets recently and had good luck.

Thanks. That is a good starting point. I want to get the materials at Lowe's, I got the installer already.

I read in CNN that today's market will return 40-50% or so in kitchens, it's slid down lately.
