Didn't AOL have a "FREE Dial-Up" for life promotion too. I think the winning bid was $14,000.

Of course I'm kidding. How extremely silly does that seem now as a comparison. How stupid would you feel had you done that.

I think a lot of the bids now are people in the know, knowing they are not forced to pay if they do "win".
