| [AT&T] time for a new phone
I currently have an unlocked w810I that I been using for awhile now. It's starting to age and is a bit dated so time for an upgrade. I don't know what i should get I am looking to spend around $379 or close to it for a new one. I do have some requirements. The first is that it has to be a unlocked phone and quad band to. I do go to Asia allot and I would like to be able to use my new one in both countries. I would also like a phone that supports Sony memory stick duo I got a 4gb one in my current phone |

| reply to gsm8 MicroSD cards are pretty cheap. I think you can get a 4GB microSD for around $50 these days. Probably cheaper if you shop real hard. So if you went with a phone that wasn't sony stick compatible, you're not out too much.
That being said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Tilt. The Tilt is made by HTC for AT&T. It's quad band, GSM, and if you call the right number, you can get the SIM unlock code from AT&T so you can put any GSM SIM in it you like.
For the longest time, I ran the stock ROM/AT&T software. Since then, I've flashed to what's known as a "cooked" ROM.
There's tons of info on xda-developers.com on all of the HTC products and especially the non-stock ROMs you can install.
This is the link to the ROM I went with. »forum.xda-developers.com/showthr···t=364641
Flashing is pretty easy, if you're the least bit technical, you can totally do it. -- Corona "No, make no mistake. It's not revenge he's after; it's a reckoning."

| reply to gsm8 Though it will break your budget by a bit the phone that would most meet your criteria is easily the K850... »www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1264
The ONLY phones your memory stick will work in is Sony Ericsson phones. Sony does not license the format to anybody else.
If you were willing to shell out for a new memory card I would suggest looking at the Nokia N75. It is Symbian Based like SE phones so it should maintain all functionality you have become accustomed to and fits into your budget.

1 edit | I have that phone and use it on t-mobile. I really love the phone. There is a bit of a learning curve but once you get used to the keys, it's all good. The camera is really nice, and the media player isn't that bad too. Audio quality is really nice.
Since i have it with t-mobile, i don't use the 3g part often. I can however manually select at&t's 3g network and make calls on it. I can't use data though. It's nice to know if i lose signal with t-mobile, i can have a backup signal. I have yet to use it though. (since t-mobile is really good where im at.) |
