| Norton 360 - why so SLOW!!
I use to have Norton, now I have Norton 360. I'm not sure if it's that program or something else on my computer, but it is so slow. To get my email from Outlook sometimes it's just froze for 30 seconds to a minute. Same thing when I go to websites. Any suggestions besides smashing the CD - which I've already thought of!! |

|  I installed Norton360 on WinXPsp2 last August and it brought my PC to a standstill. Several calls to tech support. Had to turn off pHishing filter and they connected remotely and changed some firewall settings (sorry, I don't know what they did). Add-on for parental controls was a culprit also, had to delete under 'manage add-ons).
You need tons of RAM so its not good for older PCs.
It constantly runs LiveUPdate. Task manager shows Luall processes...I used to wait until they were done. Usually about 20 minutes on a boot. |

Hi lorikr,
This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team replying to your post about a slowdown since installing Norton 360.
Are you using Norton 360 version 1 or version 2? The first thing i would suggest is that you launch Norton 360 and click on "Run LiveUpdate" to make sure you have all of the latest patches applied to your installation. You will also want to make sure that no other 3rd party antivirus or internet security applications are installed, as they will cause conflicts with Norton 360. lastly, make sure that the Windows Firewall is disabled as well, as the Norton Personal Firewall is handling that for you.
Lastly, slowdowns can also be cause by infections. After running LiveUpdate, please try running a Full System scan while booted into Windows Safe Mode.

New laptop purchased so I started a tech support chat session with Norton. I was provided a link to download norton360 version 2 for the balance of my subscription,
it works great! 
Why didn't they notify me Norton360 had an upgrade back last summer? nobody knows, but I did upgrade desktop WinXSPsp2 and it runs great now.
suggestion:ask Norton for version 2 upgrade if you're using Norton360v1 |
