I think it was Network Solutions Verisign correction per Curiosity See Profile - thanks! who tried that crap a few years back. It screwed up some large corporate IT applications and they backed off.

To return to normal, try changing DNS settings from "automatically detect" to some other trusted provider's DNS.

See »www.dnsserverlist.org/ for a list of major ISP and root DNS addresses.

Of course you could open a ticket with VZW and tell them that you have filtering and security applications that need the industry error messages to run properly.
