Re: Blast 16/2 running at half speed

Its horrible i am paying 64.99 for 16 meg and i am not even getting it. But now the problem is not only the speed but the fact that my service is not working the way it should be. I cant get webpages to come up at times its just a huge mess. This looks like this speed problem is going all over the comcast network. Someone needs to wake up at comcast engineering and see what's going on.

I'm having absolutely zero problems. I don't know anybody personally who is having any problems. You're all in totally different markets, and while you are having some similar issues they are completely and utterly seperate, isolated problems. Particularly your problems browsing - you need to troubleshoot your connection.

This is not some kind of national problem.

This is what I'm getting with the 16/2 at work (I get similar results with my 16/2 connection at home):

Hrm, well I talked to a tech earlier and said the signals from my modem were fine. But speed results showed 9mbs dl/ 2mbs ul. They will be sending someone over on Tuesday morning to check on it. I'll make another post if they find the cause.

So the Comcast tech just left and he said everything was fine on my end. He's going to file a report to their network and... well thats all he said.

Was getting test speeds of 6-7mbs while he was here, hope it gets fixed.

I'm getting the same problem.. but I'm hitting 6/7down and 2up.. kind of irritating to know that when i had 6mbps it ran faster.

oO, I had a tech come out to my house too. He checked everything and it was fine on my end also.... this is quite irritating.. he said someone will check the line up the pole the next day.. no one came. I called comcast and apparently they canceled that appointment.. Not cool how I'm paying for what I'm not getting.

just remember, your 16/2 is not guaranteed. It is up to that speed...

with AT&T's DSL of 6.0 mbps (if you can get it) - you can virtually guarantee you will get 4800 kbps all the time.... cable offers a higher potential but there will be variances in speed.

Tried on my desktop; no dice. Still getting 8000-8500 average.
Are you re-booting your computers after performing the tweaks ?

iamdak

@comcast.net
I am rebooting after each tweak and I am getting 8500'ish down consistently on pretty much every speed test I've tried. My up is a consistent 3000 which is fantastic tho

Does anyone here in the San Francisco area get a consistent ~16Mbps with their Blast connection at home?

I am in San Francisco and am having the same problem as both of you guys. I live off of Paul Ave. and my slowdowns started on the 15th. I've been around 5 mbps since then. I sometimes spike to 10 during the test but it isnt the 16 i should be getting. Doesnt matter what time of day. Are you guys close to me? Wondering if it is our node that is trashed.

It started out great at 14/15 mbps and has slid downhill since.

Thanks. . .

Do you have cable services or just internet ? If just internet then 8 mb is the blast package . You should only get 16 with at least basic cable.

Actually my speed tests here at DSLReports are slower than those over at speedtest.net. My speed registers in the 3mbps range here but 6mpbs over there.

Looks like I need to move to Marin.

has anyone heard any rumors about any network problems here in this neck of the woods? So disapointing that people South of here have 30mbps spurts and people north of us have 18mpbs. Hopefully this issue resolves itself soon. . .

Here is what I'm getting on my speed tests. Not bad. There is just no powerboost with this new tier.

I have blast and plugging directly into the modem i get 31,000kbps down but when plugged into my linsksys WRT54Gv5 (latest firmware 1.02.5) I get 12,000 kbps consistently.

Have 3 computers, 2pc 1 mac - all get the same /similar results. my bottleneck appears to be the linksys.

Any suggestions on what to put in as a replacement for a Firewall / NAT device that won't choke on 31Mbps ?

16/2(16000/2000)is provisioned at 17600/2200. Any speeds above 17600/2200 is PowerBoost.
