Re: Blast 16/2 running at half speed

Rwin is by opinion. I recommend 128480 as a minimum.

Yah I'm having some crazy slow connection problems lately on my Blast service.
Back in February when I got connected with Blast it was very fast! And was running fine for at least a month.

But I noticed about 2-3 weeks ago things getting a little slower, Noticed my connection dropped to around 12mbps, then 10mbps, 8mbps then 6mbps.
Now I'm lucky if I get 3mbps! What the hell!

i had this service for about 7+ years now, and i'm also getting the same problem as you, never seen my connection go down this much in awhile, I have no reason to call comcast about it because i have lived thrue this for 7+ years and i'm pretty much use to this and I have called comcast about this a couple of times, but it looks to me that this is a internal network problem.

Good up speed but one half of down. No matter what test, I max out at about 6000kps. So this Blast?

i get about 5/6mbdown from dslreports and 6/7mb down from speedtests and also about 6/7 from speakeasy.net ... I am in the glen park area in san francisco.. the conection speed isnt bad, it is just not what i paid for and I also get frequent disconnects... which is very annoying.. and a lot of webpages take forever to load.. I have a 6mb connection at my other house and its running much better than this one is.

i've tested again this time on the wired port from the linksys not the wifi ports and now am getting 31MB down.

looks like the linksys wifi can't keep up despite being a 802.11g wireless router.

See this: »Optimum Online FAQ »What Routers are Compatible with OOL's 15/2 and 30/5 (BOOST) Plans? for a list of routers that will achieve the proper speeds.

It's not the router, it's most likely how you configured it.
I have a Linksys WRT54G v4 and get every bit of PowerBoost and had excellent speeds when I subscribed to the 16/2 tier.

The latest in my saga. . .

I called comcast tonight because I am still speedtesting @ about 4000mbps. Some of my downloads get up to about 400kb/sec and then die down to about 200. Most of them stay around 200 or so.

I called Comcast and told them that, since I am getting 1/6th of my advertised speed I should only have to pay 1/6 of my bill. I guess they didn't think I was funny and decided to counter with their own comedy. The guy on the phone blamed my slow service on earthquakes and sounded amazed when I told him I had blast which was rated at 16mbps. Sounded like he hadn't heard of it before. I told him the speeds I was getting and he sounded like I should be happy with that.

Sigh. Anyway, they are going to roll a truck tomorrow to test my wires. . blame the problem and me and end up charging me for the visit. I'll let you know how it goes.
