I've heard that there is a way of encrypting your traffic in order to mask the fact that it is p2p. Anybody know how?

Except the problem is that Bell is throttling all encrypted traffics regardless of the protocol being transmitted (except for SSL and TLS, right now). The header encryption for BT does not work since Bell can not only recognize the packet, but it will be throttled due to the encryption policy in place.

Start using Usenet and your problems will go away. I don't know how anyone can live with torrents.....they suck balls

I've never had anything other than a pleasant experience with torrents. Unfortunately that's about to end :\ though right now I'm getting a good 400k/s on a pretty poorly seeded torrent. Ratio is basically 1:2

Usenet sound like an option! If you have to pay a small fee...well it sounds better than nothing at all!

As of now..my DL speeds haven't been affected, just UL...which is screwed anyway since my ratios are going to drop and ultimately prevent me from any further downloading.

Looks to me like this is the end of it all...not to sound too pessimistic but I think it's a pretty fair statement.

I don't see this problem being resolved anytime soon. We're dealing with Bell. Between the lawyers and political implications....this is not a situation that's likely to change in weeks.

It was fun while it lasted!!!

No clue how to check my BAS (using an OvisLink modem).

However, I'm in Port Credit and don't appear to be throttled (unless they've re-reshaped their network to allow the now-infamous CBC torrent at full speed.) I'm currently downloading at approx 450KB/s (10 P.M.)

Anyone having newsgroup problems since the throttling began? I was always maxing out my connection to over 500KB/s on Astraweb, the last few days it seems capped at 360KB/s

?

Looks like they just started throttling my area. I'm on bas7-toronto63. Can't believe I have to go through this crap again.

At last! Finally, I'm throttled. Now the real work can begin.

Oshawa is being throttled. 5mb connection down to 60kb/s. This has been going on for about a week now.

Oshawa north is being throttled. Download speed down to about 30kb/s and upload speed down to 15kb/s from 4:30 pm to 2:00 am. During other times, my download speed is almost 500kb/s but my upload speed doesn't go much above 45kb/s down, so I'm thinking something is wrong that since I'm supposed to have 80kb/s upload. Hope this gets resolved soon

Are you sure the speed you were capped at was 70KB/s? That's an unusual throttle speed from Bell, usually its 60KB/s or 30KB/s.

I'm sure I was capped at 70. I've also been capped at 120 and other speeds. Downstream speeds don't seem to be adhering to any particular limit. This might be something unique to Montreal/Quebec, or maybe that most people are measuring their throttle speeds based on upstream rather than downstream.

really weird throttle behaviour
can anyone explain the fluctuation? why don't they just have solid throttles? is it not just as simple as a switch that's flicked? why does it seem to be different for everyone?

the throttling almost seems like it's fighting itself. lol.

Just noticed being caped at less 30kb tonight up and down? Last week Utorrent was going at 120-150 and I was making that choice to cap, located North of Montreal

Sherbrooke City is now throttled ... a shame for all of our nation. The maximum speed achieved : 25 kb/s : usually : 300 kb/s. After all it did, I couldn't think that Bell could even go as low as attacking average cities. Simply disgusting. We have to sue Bell and make sure something like that never occur again in this democratic and officially capitalist country.
