Re: [policy and politics] Port Forwarding 6100 Proline modem/rou

Glad things are working now. It seems it may have been the ZAP after all.
SystemWorks doesn't seem to have a firewall so that shouldn't bother you.
Now that you know it can work, I would attempt the port forwarding in the 6100 again, making sure to forward all ports required for both TCP and UDP.
The 2200 and 6100 series modem/routers are quite alike, so if it worked with one it has to work with the other.
Let us know ?

I was thinking of that, but I don't think my son is going to be so willing to try it again.. I would prefer if it was portforwarding rather than this way. At least not unless I start to have problems with my conn or something with it set up like this.. All I know is that I got a whopper of a headache now with him doing all this stuff and me waiting to see if it will continue to work ok... I can't remember which modem I had before the 2200's...I know there was something between the 56k days which was long ago and the 2200's. My son doesn't live here, so it's a matter of getting him to come again to work on my puter which seems to be a weekly chore for one thing or another...

Is it ok to stay on the DMZ with ZAP firewall?

The DMZ is basically the same as having no router, so you should have anti-virus and anti-spy software as well, especially with Windows, but as long as you do, you should be fine.
