NJ II/Union: New HD channels coming 05/15/08 - Canceled

This was posted in the Avenel office yesterday. I guess that means we'll be getting, like the other areas, 3 HD channels in a single QAM....

Updated info: See this post ---> »Re: NJ II/Union: New HD channels coming 05/15/08

At least we're getting new HD channels...

And yeah 3:1 compression is the new thing, we're getting that soon.

Are there any specific reasons besides reclaiming bandwidth, that The History Channel and Cartoon Network are moving to the digital side? Were there contract problems or something? I'm just curious, because those two channels don't seem suited for a digital tier. Their pretty basic if you ask me.

They trigger a certain sized demographic to add boxes this "flight" if you will. last round was the 55+ people with GSN and TCM... Now we're pulling the kids and the MENSA people... Eventually we'll get the MTV and ESPN people but they'll be some of the last to jump...

Thanks for the response NoPegs, it's what I figured. It'll certainly take some time to get used to. Down here come Thursday we'll be losing 5 channels from the analog tier, including History, Cartoon Network & TCM. Scrolls notifying customers of the changes, have only been running on History & TCM.

In CPA area USA HD, Discovery HD, and SciFI HD went in the spot where analog scrambled History Channel was.

So they will put new 3:1 HD's in the spots where your analogs are migrating to digital only.

D-DAY is tomorrow. Advertisement MUST be in the newspaper tomorrow, 4/15, for the channels to be added on 5/15. I hope we'll see it.

The last round of changes for Comcast of Central NJ and a few other areas in central and northern NJ never made it to the Star Ledger. The announcement appeared in the Home News and someone was kind enough to scan it for this forum. Subsequently the information was posted on my town's website, but it never made it to the Ledger.

sansri, ad must be on the LEDGER IF the analogs are moved to digital only. For channel additions, one day suffices, like was today for Comcast of Plainfield for EWTN.

So in theory Comcast could even tomorrow place an ad saying it's moving Cartoon, History and TCM to analog and that would be ok.

I've emailed Meredith Black, VP of Marketing. I haven't received a response in 3 days, so I'm going to publish her email address here for anyone in our area that wants to contact her. It is freely available on the internet..

Meredith_Black@cable.comcast.com

The next email address is for Keith Taub, Vice President of Comcast of Northern NJ.
