| Trojan Hunter Replacement
Any suggestions for a replacement for Trojan Hunter, I installed 5.0 and lost the ability to Right Click to scan individual files, asked for help at their Forum, Mods tried to help but Magnus completely ignored the request from the Mods and me, fortunately I have only two months left on my subscription. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

| reply to fastez1 If you want something that runs on a little different principle have a look at Threatfire. It is a free HIPS based application which you can run in conjunction with your AV and it will provide you with protection against trojans as well as various other types of malware.
Threatfire tends to be a little more user friendly than other HIPS programs in that it identifies the potential malicious behaviour and isn't dependant on the users knowledge of system processes. Should you wish Threatfire will also allow you to write your own rule set. |

| reply to dontsleep said by dontsleep :I use trojan remover.Been using it for years.Very good at removing bad stuff. » www.simplysup.com/ I have been using Trojan Remover for over 3 years now. They keep good records because when I moved back to California from Texas I needed Trojan Remover for a computer I bought. I did not have my receipt saved from when I first purchased it. I just emailed three different email addresses I may have used, my full name and address at the time I purchased the program. Two days later I received an email from them giving me a link to download the new version.
They are great at simplysup.com!

p.s I started using Trojan Remover after Trojan Hunter changed up and I had already paid for a year but they did not honor it with the newer version (I think it may have been a v. 5 or 6 . . . I do not remember, it has been awhile).
All I do remember is that I was very disappointed with them.

| reply to fastez1 Hi Ed,
My apologies for the non-responsiveness on the forum; there really is no excuse. I will get the issue with the current setup file fixed today and will post back here when I've uploaded a current version that fixes the right-click problem.
Meanwhile, you could check to see if there is a file named ContextMenu.dll in the TrojanHunter folder? If so, does renaming it to contmenu.dll fix the problem? If that does the trick you won't need a new setup file at all.
Again, my apologies and I'll get back to everyone on the new setup file once it's available. -- Mischel Internet Security http://www.misec.net |

| reply to fastez1 Hey Vampierfo & Magnus, I had previously tried the ContextMenu.dll to contmenu.dll, that did not fix the right click problem but I do appreciate the suggestion.
NanDog, You are correct, my XP worked perfectly but when I switched my system to Vista I lost the right click ability, Thanks for the input.
Everyone else, Thank you very much for the suggestions, I am looking into all the alternatives you have suggested.
I would certainly be lost without this Forum.

| reply to fastez1 I've been able to reproduce the problem on Vista, but the fix is a bit more complicated to produce than I first thought. I will post back here when I've been able to solve it and there's a new setup file available for download. -- Mischel Internet Security http://www.misec.net |

Kaspersky AV alone is about as good as TH on trojans... Other than that, BoClean (now free at Comodo's site), and AVG AntiSpyware (also free, without realtime) which is the old Ewido trojan hunter... Still every bit as good as ever. |

| reply to fastez1 I've now uploaded a new TrojanHunter setup file that *should* fix the problem. I would recommend that you install this into a completely new folder to avoid any conflicts with existing files.
Simply download and install [.exe removed] and then install your license. Please let me know if this fixes the problem with not being able to right-click scan on Vista. --
