I have read plenty of stories on webhostingtalk and other boards about basically the same thing happening. Everybody thought that they were safe because they could no longer be charged because the card had been changed, but they ended up getting a debt collection notice in the mail a few months later from 1 and 1 parent company.
I have personally not dealt with this since the online cancellation form took care of everything for me. But I thought you deserved the heads up that you still might want to follow up with them to make sure they are not going to try and consider this money owed and try to collect on it.
