| FIOS tv available?
I live in SW Keller which is ATT territory. Yet, just weeks ago we got a letter informing us that FIOS will soon be available and they've already dug for the cables so I know its coming soon. However, the letter didn't say anything about FIOS tv. Does anyone have any idea's if its the TV will be available to us?? We have U-Verse now and the service is ok, but not great. We refuse to pay for HD on U-verse also as they only have 1 HD stream at a time. Any updates on this will be much appreciated. | | justin9876

| I have delayed responding hoping that someone who actually knew something would respond. But alas...
I live in Keller, north of 1709, and have had FiOS TV, Internet, and phone for almost 2 1/2 years. Great service, so if you do eventually get access I encourage you to sign on.
As originally announced, FiOS was to be available only in Verizon territory. However, I know I saw something, I think in the Star-Telegram, that Verizon was considering offering FiOS Internet in then-SBC territory up in Denton. Don't know what ever became of that. But I have never heard anything about Verizon offering anything in AT&T territory in Keller. Until last year one of my sons lived in SW Keller (moved to SE Keller) and he was never able to get FiOS, only AT&T junk.
As to finding out more; are you really in Keller, or in Ft. Worth west of 377 (it seems lots of folks think they are in Keller when they live there, because they are in the KISD and have a Keller post office address)? If really in Keller, you might contact the city, they originally negotiated a contract with Verizon for FiOS, and I would think they would know at least something about what Verizon is doing.
Beyond that, I think there are some Verizon execs that live in Keller, I don't know if any are members of this forum, but it sure would be nice if one of them, or at least some Verizon person would give us a little info about plans. We were the first city in the country to get FiOS TV, and now we seem to be about the last to get anything. -- Justin Verizon FiOS TV and Internet Motorola QIP6416 HD DVR Sony KDL-V40XBR1 | | redraider087

1 edit | I am in Keller, right behind the firestation on Rufe Snow, its not like the outskirts of town or anything. Every neighborhood near us has it because Verizon territory stops at Rapp road, we live on the other side. We actually got a letter today about it. They will have TV or according to the letter FiOS has advanced TV blah blah blah. So I'm assuming they have it. This is great because you're right ATT is junk. Its nice that people will finally have a choice. ATT is trying to save money and its really hurting them. The picture is great on SD, but HD is horrible, VOD selection is horrible, and the internet is slow. Finally we can get something good. | | justin9876

| redraider,
To follow up on your question. I am on the Keller mayor's email distribution list, and today his weekly email has this (my bolding):
"Verizon utility construction update
Beginning at Keller's most southern boundary, Verizon is expanding its fiber-to-the-premises (FiOS) network for data, video, and phone services throughout the city. Verizon crews are working Monday through Friday, during daytime hours, and are approximately 15 percent complete with their citywide project.
Keller Public Works engineering staff is working diligently with the utility line coordination for the project. All construction is within the city's rights-of-way and/or franchise utility easements and colored markers are being placed to indicate the utility line location.
Should you have questions regarding this issue, contact the Keller Public Works engineering department at 817-743-4080."
So it really does appear that Verizon is going into AT&T territory in Keller. I had a dispute with someone here recently about Verizon doing that kind of thing, he was absolutely sure they would not do it, but I think here is proof that they will.
Good luck when you get FiOS, I think you will love it. -- Justin Verizon FiOS TV and Internet Motorola QIP6416 HD DVR Sony KDL-V40XBR1 | |
