Sure can. I've had it standalone since '02. It is not available in all areas Comcast serve however.

See your previous thread for availability info:

i just had a chat conversation with an Earthlink salesperson at earthlink.net. i gave him my address and he said that 4.0MB service is the only one available. Last week i typed in my address and I qualified for 6.0MB. Does anyone know whats wrong? My area is served by comcast so i think i can get 6.0mb
service woth them.

I am in Earthlink Cable (via Comcast) and I get 6MB down 386kb up. This also includes 'PowerBoost' which allows bursting above the 6MB limit. Basically Earthlink Cable accounts are just like Comcast 6MB/386K with PowerBoost accounts. Same speeds.

It would help with all your questions if you would post what city and state you are trying to get service in.

Same happened in my area (said I qualify for 5Mbps but area is 7Mbps). I recently switched to Earthlink and I'm happy to say I have the full 7Mbps.

EarthLink has corrected their information now. Im glad they are offering Cable HSI for $45 for non CATV subscribers.

I can't wait to ditch AT&T/Bellsouth DSL. Not because they are "bad" I used to have a good service when I signed up and the techs were very smart, but now, I don't know what happened. Every weekend I get horrible speeds and im starting to have Diaul up nostalgia, oh noes...

I heard there is an upgrade going on and I will be able to get
full 6mbps but I rather have 6mps and powerboost.

My neighbor has Earthlink also and I can say it's very stable becuae every other days I sneak into his unsecured home network and download a few things.
