Are encrypted browsing sessions recoverable from hard drive?

I nearly lost my laptop today and it got me thinking...

If I were to lose my laptop would a criminal be able to get the information from my SSL online banking sessions, credit card applications, and credit reports?

Any documents downloaded to my PC are stored in a Truecrypt file container but what about the statements viewed during a SSL connection? What about SSN's entered into credit card applications or while viewing my credit reports online? Can these sessions be recovered from my internet cache? Can my banking passwords be recovered even if I dont use a password manager?

Thanks in advance

Next time look at this IE setting: Tools | Internet Options | Advanced | Security | Do not save encrypted pages to disk and make sure it's set on.

Be aware though, that any card numbers will have to be re-entered each time you access your bank's site. Also make sure you check off 'Empty Temporary Internet Files on Browser Close' (underneath Do not save encrypted pages to disk), as well as limiting your browser cache to 1 MB.

I also use Clean Disk Security to scrub my cache and index.dat files after each secure session.

What about the default settings for Firefox? Will it save encrypted pages to my disk? I always clear my cache after each session however I do not use any clean disk security so I assume the cache can be found on my hard drive.

So while using Firefox on default security settings is it possible to find the information entered during SSL sessions on my hard drive? Thanks again.

What I would suggest is moving your temp and internet temp files from it's present place to the encrypted container for all the browsers you have. No linking, move the whole folder. That should keep the nasties at bay a bit better.
