wildgator360 : I am in Greer, SC in a fairly new subdivision.I had the 5mb package earlier this week, but the speeds were so slow in the afternoon/evening/night hours that surfing the web and using xbox live was rediculous. Download speeds were well below 2mb, but were fluctuating nonstop. Ping to speedtest.net's georgia site was above 999ms. After MANY calls to Charter tech support, I agreed to have tech come out and check the line. No problem he reported, but told my wife that "Evening and night hours are when the most people are on, so speeds will be slow then."
Allrighty then, thank you for your college level response to my problem Handy Mandy. I called Charter back that day and had the speed adjusted to 10mb package. I get home and do the speed test, and I average only around 3-5mb download and half the upload speed. I call Charter the next morning and get a modem replacement, SB5101 to replace my Toshiba PCX2200. Upload speed goes to 1mb, but still same shitty download speeds. When I check in the mornings, the speed is just as I pay for, 10 down, 1 up. But after 2 PM, you can forget about it. I just want to know when it's going to be fixed, because it hasn't been like this before the past 3 weeks/month, so what gives Charter?
