make your own ISP

Seems you folks are forgetting this is BELLs hardware/network..It's not public, it's not free to run, it's not yours to shape, it's bells. If you don't like it, spend a few million and get your own network up and running, buy that dark fibre in the ground, buy those edge devices, buy that "last mile" install for your customers..

The internet is not free, it's not a right, and until it becomes one, all us end users are SoL..

You should live in china with the communism. Now wake up,we are in canada,if weak people like you just accept the way corporation deal with us,then we can expect to see other service going the same way.

Awesome argument, if you are paying for Symaptico. I think everyone is freaking out because it's the wholesalers who are (maybe) being effected by Bell's decision to throttle. People left Bell and went with Teksavvy (and others) in order to avoid caps, throttling and poor tech support. And now it seems that no matter how far we run, Bell keeps coming after us like some cheap horror-flick monster.

That's why people are mad.

Re: Update on Throttling...

Ok... Here's the deal...

They're now openly acknowledging that they are rolling out a full throttling process. They plan to have things fully throttled by April 7th. All BT and P2P traffic will be affected.

They claim they are allowed to do so according to their Terms and Services under the Fair Usage Policy in the tariffed contracts... We'll be looking into this shortly.

The meeting was with Sales and Product Management. They will be preparing a formal letter before end of week.

In the meantime, we (many other ISPs) are going to prepare as well... I guess the high road is the path taken in this case.

Spread the word one and all as this topic needs to reach every level possible... There's now officially an issue and action must be taken by all if we're to rectify things.

Re: make your own ISP

all of bell copper is on public land, try to get permission run wire all over the place, see if they let you do that.

If you actually think the backbone is run off copper, I suggest you at least jump into the 1980's. Fiber is installed all the time..and it is way cheaper to string a fibre strand across un-populated land than a city centre.

And there's nothing stopping Techsavvy from going to another supplier. We switched from Telus to Bell to Shaw for our needs.. and there's other suppliers out there.. Noone is telling them to stick with Bell.. Tech is just another customer for bell..
