Re: Yahoo also dropping legit mail

They are not grey listing anything. They are doing a DNS check and if the mail servers MX and/or A records are improper, they are rejecting the connection.

I think it is great. If we want to stop spam then we have to enforce the rules (RFC'S) setup for mail services. It is such a simple procedure to follow, no mail server should have trouble being compliant. They just have gotten away with it for so long but now mail servers are trying to clean up the Internet. So mail servers are going to have to be compliant.

Bullshit. I have 6 domains hosted with HostGator who are at constant battle with Yahoo to have their email delivered. I think HostGator probably has a clue about running email servers. There's a huge thread about this issue in HostGator's support forums, which I don't think is available to the general public, only those who have domains hosted by them.

I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.

Greylisting does exactly that . . . "temporarily rejecting" any email from a sender it does not recognize. But for some reason . . . it appears Yahoo is permanently rejecting legitimate mail.

From Yahoo themselves . . .

quote:
This is from the Yahoo site:

If your mail servers were experiencing persistent connection deferrals (with a 421 4.7.0 [TS0*] error code) when trying to deliver emails to Yahoo! Mail during the month of February 2008, please be assured that we have made recent and significant adjustments to our mail systems to address this issue. As a result, we believe that most of the deferral behavior is on the decline.

If you do continue to experience delivery problems, please review the Postmaster Help pages and report any continuing problems through our "Contact Us" forms.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.

Edit:
BTW - Yahoo says this is fixed, but it isn't.
It's still happening.
