| Cancelling Service
I just called Bell to cancel my service and was told I was on a contract. I never agreed to a contract, and was never even informed of a contract but supposedly I'm on a contract. I said I wanted to cancel due to torrent throttling and the lady told me that every ISP will be throttling in a matter of weeks. I finally decided to just hang up the phone and post a message in the Sympatico Direct forums. I can't wait to get away from this scummy company. |

So, Bell wants a war? Well Bell will have a war. |

| reply to LNahid2000 Actually, she did mention that after I pushed a little more. She said that all the 3rd party ISPs traffic runs through Bell's lines so Bell has the ability to throttle all of them. I'd still rather go with Teksavvy or Acanac since they're cheaper and have better support than Bell. |

I guess you tried and did not suceed... |

Bell finally got around to modifying reality so that their reps were telling the truth. You ask me, simplest thing would have been to just tell the reps to stop saying that. :P |

| reply to LNahid2000 I got a phone call from Bell_Sylvain in the Sympatico Direct forum. He told me that I agreed to a verbal contract even though I know I didn't. I'd NEVER agree to a contract with a company like Bell, no matter how good the rate was. After arguing for about 10 minutes, he said he will review the phone call from last year and I'll get a phone call in a couple days. Worst case scenario is that I have to stay with bell for 2 months because I supposedly agreed to a contract. Either way, I'm never going back to Bell since I refuse to give my money to an underhanded and anticompetitive company. |

| As far as I know, Bell always sends you a contract via your e-mail address and you have to click "Accept" or something, or otherwise you're not on a contract.
Tell Bell that if they have no proof you signed up for a contract, then you aren't on one.
When I tried to cancel several months ago, I was told the same thing, but once they looked into it, they realized I was right. Just keep pushing them, and eventually you'll get what's right. |

| reply to LNahid2000 LNahid2000, if you want to cancel your service, this is what you need to do:
Cancel and inform them that, since you never agreed to a contract, you will dispute any cancellation fees with your credit card provider.
This is how the dispute process works:
If you see any unauthorized charge on your credit card (must have been posted) call your credit card provider and ask for the disputes centre/department or just let them know you want to dispute a fraudulent transaction. Explain to them that you never signed a contract yet you are being treated as if you did. Make you sure tell them there was no verbal agreement either.
Your credit card company will contact Bell and ask them to provide documentation showing that you signed a contract or proof that you verbally agreed to a contract.
If Bell can't prove there was a contract (and the burden of proof is on them) then the final step will be for you to sign an affidavit stating that you did not authorize this transaction. You will receive a new credit card (different # so that these clowns at Bell can't charge you) and the fraudulent charge will be removed, along with any interest that may have accrued if you decided not to pay it while the dispute process was ongoing.
Whatever you do, DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO BULLY YOU OR PERSUADE YOU INTO THINKING THAT THE YOU ARE THE ONE WHO HAS TO PROVE THERE WASN'T A CONTRACT. They have to prove it. |

@acanac.net
| A bell manager once claimed I "verbal contract" according to one of his reps. I just said "what if the the rep told you I had 3 arms and two heads, would you believe that"? Then he said since they don't have written confirmation he would terminate all services without any early cancellation fees.
After canceling all my bell services, I have already stopped braking for bell techs when in the street. I routinely get angry fist shakes from bell employees for either driving 2 feet from them their bodies or cutting them off in traffic. The next step would be to organize a fight club type vandalism campaign against all bell property. |

| reply to LNahid2000 how about instead of endangering the techs who are simply doing the job their superiors tell them to do, you get mad at the executives who are actually making the decisions and aren't on the street everyday?
[sarcasm] Who am I kidding, that would be the intelligent thing to do... [/sarcasm] |

| reply to travisc I just spoke to my sister in law who teaches in Ontario. As I pointed out to her she is the prospective owner of this cesspool. She has already had a few students express their displeasure at her. The weak spot in this equation s the new owners.. the Ontario Teachers. |
|
  me13
@bell.ca | Oh give me a break, students mad at the teacher for this? How gullible do you think we are? The Ontario teachers are not the new owners yet and it will be owned the their pension administrators who do not care what the teachers think. |
