| Using Exchange with MS Office?
I don't think there is any hope, but here it goes. I'm going off to college (CCSU) in a few months and I just set up my account and such. I noticed they use Exchange for their servers. I thought, great, I use Office 2007 which comes integrated with it. Horrible pain lies ahead...
I did a little digging and found that they block port 135, which the Exchange server uses. I guess AT&T says it's for security reasons, but it's more of a pain in the arse than anything. Does anyone know of possible workarounds for this? I really don't want to use Webmail because I already check a few other email addresses as is. |

| reply to dabbaking Well it's using Web Access 2007. Is there a way to test to see if it has the SSL? It says on one of there help pages:
If you are trying to access Outlook from home after following the instructions on the Online Assistance webpage, but are unable to, it is probably because your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is blocking port 135 to provide better security for you.. A port is a connection point that computers use to talk to each other over a network. Certain programs use different ports. The Microsoft Exchange server that is used on campus uses port 135, so if your ISP is blocking this port you will be unable to access the Exchange server. This was done by many internet service providers on the recommendation from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. You can however still access your e-mail from off campus. You can use Outlook Web Access. The directions on how to use Outlook Web Access can be found on this Online Assistance page. |
