Problem configuring ZyXel X-550 as Access Point

Hello,

I would like to use this router as a wireless extension of my wired LAN. I've done the configuration for this with a D-Link and a Linksys in the past with success, but haven't any luck with the ZyXel. I have used the documentation found on this site as the guide.

Setup:

WAN - I leave it at the default (DHCP) since the port will be unused.

LAN - I changed the IP to one that conforms to my LAN's standards but not in the range of the DHCP server on my LAN. Subnet mask matches my LAN. I turn DHCP off.

Wireless - Set up using WEP security.

I reboot on my LAN after config (ethernet cable from X-550 LAN port to my switch). I can see the ZyXel and when I connect it prompts for the key, then connects, but it gets stuck in Acquiring Network Address mode for several minutes, then stops with a No Connectivity.

I've gone through the process like 6 or 7 times. The firmware is v1.6.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Try no security first.
Sounds like the rest is okay, you can ping the AP so its on the network.
