[connectivity] 7mb Verizon DSL - Wiring concerns

I'm wondering if there are any wiring considerations when getting the 7mb DSL from verizon? Right now I have old JK or quad wiring in my home to my jacks, and i've read a lot about how DSL speeds are not guaranteed if you're running it over this type of wire. Is this something to be concerned about? Running new CAT3 cable for the DSL line is probably out of the question as it would be rather expensive to do.

Part of the install process for 7.1 is (supposed to be) a service visit for them to install a whole house filter and home run.

Interesting.. I'd like to see how they plan to do that, this is on a condo and their presence to the building is on one side and my unit is on the other side and on the third level with about eight units inbetween....

Some magic i'm not aware of?

That must be why one of my neighbors who has a dead drop into his unit has a "temporary" line that runs through the dirt along side the building and into his front door.. This temp line has probably been there for five years or more.
