He's been abducted by aliens in an until now unnoticed spaceship orbiting the earth. They cannot speak in our language, and through him have sent us dots. We could send a helicopter up with lights to attempt to communicate. Also, perhaps the throttling isn't really by bell, but they don't want to come off like they don't know what's going on (as if), and in reality the alien ship is starting a countdown sequence that interferes with internet communications.
Rocky's the dweeb who discovered that it's a countdown and the end date is april 7th!!!!!
