Chosen by Acer on all Windows-Based Notebook and Desktop PCs
Starting from March of 2008, all Acer windows-based notebook and desktop PCs sold worldwide will incorporate eSobi Lite v2.0, the personal global news center, pre-installed.
»www.pr-inside.com/print488452.htm

The other preinstalled Acer programmes usually are;

Acer Arcade
Acer eData Security Management
Acer eLock Management
Acer Empowering Technology
Acer eNet Management
Acer ePower Management
Acer ePresentation Management
Acer eSettings Management
Acer GridVista
Acer Mobility Center Plugin
Acer Tour

run msconfig or download autoruns from microsoft.com
these will allow you to still have the programs but you can tell them not to load on startup - so you have the best of both worlds

@cgocable.net

Thanks, Name Game, yes, it's an ACER with all those pre-installed programs, most of which I'll probably never use.
I'll use MSCONFIG to stop them from loading on startup, but the thing that caused a red flag to me was the eSobi "partners" page that said "Generous 25% sales commission for having product list on your website "...this sounds like they are spammers to me, but then again, that's just me being paraniod.
...or I could just use WinPatrol to stop them from loading, and help shorten bootup time.
