| Using Spybot 1.5.2? Do you like it?
I have been really satisfied with Spybot 1.4, especially since I went to 1.5 and found it took well over a minute to open and was really worse in performance. I went back to 1.4 and am still there, but seeing the 1.5.2 newest version in the update section. My question (for my XP Pro machine) is to see if anyone can tell me if the newest version has fixed that set of issues? Thanks in advance! Dan -- "What we do in life echoes in eternity." |

| For me it now opens in about 8 seconds, which is twice as quick as 1.4, and the interface is a bit easier to use. With older versions you also had to close and re-open the program to fully install new definitions; I'd be interested to know if that has been taken care of. Overall I would say it's improved. -- Dawn,n,The time when men of reason go to bed. (Ambrose Bierce.) |

| reply to Dan Given Yeah, I also had the slowdown issue with the earlier 1.5 version but updating to 1.5.2 cured that immediately. Here's a thread on the S & D forums from a couple months ago about the issue: »forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=21510 -- See ya across the Rainbow Bridge, my good and faithful friend! |

| reply to Dan Given I have it on one 98SE computer and two XP computers and it works fine. I had the same start up problem you described on the previous 1.5 version and it would not start at all on the 98SE computer. That issue seems to have been dealt with in this release. |

I've been running Spybot S/D V1.5.2.20 on my WinXP Pro sys since Jan. 30th with no performance issues to report. Just timed the app opening & it was 6 sec.

Your responses have encouraged me to give it a try! I appreciate the time you gave.
EDIT: I installed and ran it and it works quickly and well. I recommend it to those reading this posting.

I am using SPybot S & D v1.5.2 on all of my PCs and it is working fine for the most part.
The only real issue I have found is if I use Spybot Immunizing feature (Firefox - Installations blocking).
It tends to slow down opening up the option in Firefox to allow or not allow specific sites to install software. Other then that Spybot is running fine and is much faster to load then previous versions. -- "There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact". - Sherlock Holmes |

The only problem I had was the Immunize settings for Firefox, which I had to disable because it bloated the hostperm.1 file to huge proportions with blocked items that were unnecessary to add because I have defaulted to blocking unwanted items like that anyway. |

| reply to Dan Given OK, I have an interesting situation with an Acer laptop running Win Vista SP1 and SB 1.5.2.20: 1st off I'm running in admin mode but must "run as administrator" to get SB to open. Then I noticed after updating the database that Firefox is missing in the IMMUNIZE section. Anyone else notice this? |
