Re: Router issues - potentially fixed

Guessing it didn't stay fixed for long, back to partial page loads and dns errors, getting tiresome. Guessings its obviously down to the modem itself now.

A few weeks ago, we was all suffering from high latency I think that was just a sporadic problem and had no real bearing on alot of our problems so i'm not including those in my report here.

So far, the WBM (Web Base Menu) in the security log for some reason I think is to attributed to our Wii connecting to the router! I'm guessing each time it we're playing our Wii online the router is changing some of the security options or opening certain ports and is generating that message, because the times its timestamped are roughly equal to the times the Wii is in action, going to look into that more closely.

The syn packet issue seems to constantly pop up at times throughout the day, so far after all the research i've done, it seems soley due to the routers small NAT table filling up fast and/or possibly related to Zonealarm blocking part of it thats needed to handshake properly, i'm not fully sure.

I did some research and alot of sites especially Ars Techica has alot of posts relating to FIOS issues similar to mine and one thing that kept popping up was changing the MTU to (Manual) 1480 instead of the default setting of Automatic (1500)

Since doing so everything has worked flawlessy for the past 8 or so hours since I did that, so far, i'm watching it carefully for any dns, packet loss or any of the other issues I was having, so far, everything seems to be running faster without any partial page loads, before I was having to refresh several times. I'll let you guys know if changing the MTU fixes my issues - not sure exactly why it would - but in-depth networking is not my area of expertise >.>
