and more importantly they call out the companies on it now, seems a bit funny the holding firm waited until blu-ray won. the 21st century so far as been the century of "we bought that patent 10 years ago, but we are suing you now".

Could be they had to wait for research firms to reverse engineer the technology to make sure it actually infringes on their patent. Sometimes that takes a couple years.
