I'm all for it

Charge me $5 a month to legally consume all the digital media I can.

This isn't any different than the tarrif they put on cassettes and video tapes in the 80's and 90's.

Whether or not you used the tape for recording little Johnny's voice or used it to record music off the radio, some of your money went to the **AA.

That's why they are proposing this sort of charge. It's much easier to implement than any sort of filtering or other method of preventing copyright infringement. If they do this, they get a guaranteed return without any real effort on their (MPAA or RIAA) part. I'm not sure I object to the concept, but my recollection is that the artists never have gotten much from the industry when it comes to these charges imposed on blank media. It probably won't be different now.

If they'd throw movies into the mix for another 5$, h*ll yea! I'd pay it! I could care less about the modern music crap that is being put out now, but would love to update my classic rock library! Would save me the hassle of signing up for Netflix, etc...
