| reply to hsindogg Re: [OC] Q6600 Help
I wish you luck! I got a dud Q6600, which won't do 400x8. The only way I can get it stable over 3GHz is to run it at 356x9. I seem to be in the minority, though, so you'll likely be able to do 400x8 no problem. -- Hello...is there anybody in there? |

It's definitely not the MB, because the MB does 400+ FSB with an X6800 (actually, an engineering sample X6900). The RAM I had in there was 2x1 DDR2-800 G.Skill stuff that supposedly would do 1066 with 2.1v. But, recently I built a 2nd box and bought new RAM (PC2-8000) and even with that it doesn't work stably at 400x8. I run mprime (prime95 for FreeBSD) and it gets rounding errors unless I drop the FSB. I haven't tried finding the point where it craps out between 9x356 and 8x400, since I'm relatively happy with 3.2 GHz. -- Hello...is there anybody in there? |
