I just checked the Verizon website again to no avail. One would think having new construction in a FiOS area that it would be available. My last house had it coming from the pole across the street. That install took a few hours and I was happily ever after.

If the area is mostly aerial, they usually come back and do underground utility areas last. Unfortunately, it can take a year or so until they bring the fiber into those underground areas. Might want to speak to a tech if you see one in the area and get some names/numbers for higher ups, so you can contact them and see what the timeframe is for your area.

WEShep posted : I waited about four mailings, then went to Verizons website put in the required info and am now a satisfied FIOS customer. Live near Woodbury, NJ they came on time and had everything working in about one and a half hours. Our utilities all are from the telephone poles. B-4 I also had their DSL and quite a few problems because we live too far from the CO. Nothing was hanging from the poles around here to do with the setup. They had to run it from the nearest main road to our residence, almost a half block away. I would think that it being that close to you, that you would not have any problems getting it?

jb0134 posted : I live in South Coatesville, PA 19320. The letters have been coming to me for the past couple of months. I call each time and get the same response. I have to call Verizon on Monday anyway because they messed up my DSL order. So I'll check again at that time. Thanks for the info.

sphinxguy18 posted : Where do you live (City, State)?

I know in the past and this happens to a lot of AT&T U-Verse and Verizon FIOS people, the marketing people go around and say it's available, but the problem is when you call their system hasn't updated yet w/ your address. Have you tried to call since you've gotten that bro? If not I would of wait 2 - 4wks and by then their systems should of updated.

Oh and by the way normally, Verizon FiOS is usually ran under ground depending on the Verizon agreement w/ the city. But if your house has under ground utlities, then I would say it's safe to say that the fiber optic cable in under ground. Especially if your Verizon telephone cable coming from the TelCo box is underground and then comes up to your house.

Hope this information helps your get the best internet for internet!

[northeast] I miss my fiber connection

anon posted : Last year was an exciting one for me. I purchased a new house, in a new neighbourhood, with no grass. To my surprise when getting my utilities connected I found out that FiOS was not yet available at my residence; but looked like it would be in about six weeks. I decided to go with DSL and stick it out. Six months later it's still not available to me. It is to the street behind me. There is even a pole in my back yard with optical cable hanging from it(shame my utilities come from underground). Recently I received a letter in the mail saying it was available. I wasted no time calling to set it up to find out the letter must have been sent in error. When on the phone I inquired as to when I could get it and no one I've spoken to recently has an answer. So I throw it out here: Is there anyone who can help me find out when I can get it? I had a fiber connection for over a year at my old place and vowed never to go back to Comcast. The problem is DSL speeds are driving me crazy.
