Portmonkey : My cd/dvd drive quit working not long ago. I spent the better part of a day trying to figure out what was wrong. I was about to purchase a new one but decided to try taking a q-tip with a little rubbing alcohol and cleaned the little glass looking thing, which I guess is where the light comes out for reading stuff. It worked and has worked fine since. Maybe that had nothing to do with why it started working again. I'm not sure if trying this could damage your dive, so try it at your own risk after you have exhausted all other options.
--
Ninja of the Nasty

In other words, does it still get power, or show any signs of running at all, and does it show as a device under Windows?
--
...something is happening here but you don't know what it is...do you, Mr. Jones?
