| Bittorrent weirdness I should preface this by saying, I am *not* downloading 24/7 or keeping my BT client up for any extended period of time.
With that said.
I occasionally use BT to download ISO's. Under Insight I was throttled. Great. Under Comcrap it appears that BT is being actively blocked. I see on the tracker site that the file I am grabbing has high numbers of seeders/leechers, yet I am unable to download the ISO because I see 0/0.
Is anyone else seeing this? Is this the sort of service I should expect from our local monopoly internet provider? Technically, they do *not* provide Internet service because their bastardized version of it means blocked ports, asymmetrical speeds and throttling of services they don't like. But don't let that stop them! | |

| No problem with BitTorrent here, nor am I forcing any encryption. Try a well-seeded Linux distribution as a sanity check (Fedora or Ubuntu are good tests).

I've used port 80 before, so it's definitely not blocked (at least in this area, I don't know if that varies by market). I'm not sure about 8080, though. Port 25 (once again, at least here) isn't blocked unless you're flagged for spam. | |

| I\'m having some stange issues also. When I\'m using multiple trackers a lot of them give me an error that they\'re offline due to timeouts (check pic). The trackers are all online, even when I have torrents from the same tracker a few will be online but most will timeout.

Is "timeout" the error message that you are getting?
Many trackers limit the number of simultaneous tasks you can be running at once.
If you're on Comcast using BitTorrent, and you have 384 KB/s, you should only be running 2-3 tasks at once and let the others queue. Otherwise, you're spreading your upload too thinly and you're not doing anyone any good.
Click on Options and re-run the Speed Guide.

Comcast is not known to block many ports. They are not even as tight with port 25 as AT&T. I have never heard of Comcast blocking the common filesharing ports.
