[rant] email issue

For the last 3 days I am unable to send email on the first try. I have been getting an error message, but on the second or third try the email go out - anyone else with this problem?

Same here. It has been going on for about a week. Occasionally Outlook Express "asks" if I want to wait. If I click "OK", it eventually connects.

Sounds like at problem at the AT&T end.

hey guys and gals-

With the e-mail errors and time outs you are getting can you post these in the direct forum?

Just need the following

• The ID's affected
• the errors that each id is getting, if say ID-a is getting a different error than id-b, that would be a difference.
• Does webmail work?: Note: a simple verify and yes or no will work here.
• E-mail client you are using
• DSL number if you have one or account number, for Uverse the BAN (Billing Account Number) will be it.

Then in a direct post please select [e-mail prob] and post away.

Thanks
David

hey guy, I think bcarty3 See Profile is looking for you, for another one I gave him from last Friday for you.

That one is bad, we got all kinds of sync problems. Might hit him up. He said he sent you a few messages.

change your smtp email server. Yahoo put in a new security patch that's messed things up for me (error 553). I just called in and they had me change it to smtpauth.sbcglobal.net

They claim it'll be fixed by 4/7, I don't know if I'll have to change it back to the old one then or not.

Actually for error 553 they have another fix that's a bit more accepted and a bit easier to use.

Based on the content of that .pdf file, 'smtp.att.yahoo.com' can't be used as a smarthost for a user's own domain?

I use Mercury/32, and have two users on the premises. It seems that having each user set up with their own Mercury/32 account won't work properly with this new Yahoo! security measure. The Mercury "C" relay client is configured to use the Primary account, but the log in is different between that and the sub accounts. So user "A", with an email address associated with the Primary account has no problem sending; but user "B", with a sub account which email address is not associated with the Primary account is SOL. Or so it seems. I'll probably play around with it some more later this week. For now, 'smtpauth.sbcglobal.net' works as a smarthost.

I found this over at uverseusers.com:

There is a link in the first post of the thread to add a 3rd party address in order to get it "verified" by AT&T.

The pdf above tells you the same thing, with a screen shot of where to put it and step by step instructions.

I found that you are a Uverse user in Cromwell, CT...I live in the Cromwell Hills area and Uverse is not been available yet. What section do you live in? Have you liked the service thus far? It would be great if it becomes available in my area soon...sick of the cable company.

Jealous in Cromwell!

The does not work for me and at least one more person. What's even worse AT&T tech support doesn't even say anything about it to me while I was on the phone with them, heck they actually hung up on me 2x after waiting over 40minutes on the phone. I'm really getting to the end of my rope with AT&T.
