This Real?
Oh come on Rocky.. did I lose all credibility JUST because of that Ron Jeremy thing????

Uhm, I don't know. Looks pretty convincing, but since I'm not part of the "Toronto network" (nor will I ever, and will not risk humiliation from friends just to see his profile) I can't see his profile.

Cheers,
RJ

Posted to CBC's comments tread following their story on the NUPGE press releace:

Bell's traffic shaping is hurting a lot more than P2P users. There are many reports on the dslreports.com Teksavvy forum (»TekSavvy) of people who have been unable to access work-related electronic resources from home, properly use online banking, use internet telephone services, or play online games, because Bell's throttling system is so badly implemented that it can't distinguish these normal, low-bandwidth, *and incontrovertibly legal* activities from P2P filesharing. In most cases, the same problems apply to Rogers as well.

Because Bell and Rogers have a duopoly on last mile internet access in most of Ontario, there is now no way for anyone who wants/needs to make use of the Internet to work from home, play games online, or otherwise take full advantage of the internet revolution have no way to do so. This is literally a step backwards to the pre-broadband dialup days of Internet service.

CBC needs to follow this up this issue urgently as neither Bell or Rogers have shown any willingness to reduce the collateral damage of their war on P2P.

Indeed, Bell's arrogance on traffic shaping is such that Bell spokesman Jason Laszlo was recently caught stating on Facebook that he is "realizing how little seperates (sic) journalists from lemmings."[1] Assuming the Facebook page is not a forgery, it seems clear that neither Bell or its spokeman have all that much respect for their fellow Canadians.

The important thing is not if he keeps his job (or not) but rather that the media takes his (and Bell's) comments in the proper context.

If you ever meet the guy you'd find he's pretty sweet, real stand up kind of person.

And yes, if my boss told me go read a press release, even though I didn't agree with the terms and subject of it, I would read it regardless to the public.

Do I agree with some of the Bell internal corp bullshit? No I don't. But I still work there.
